About filigree: 

Filigree was born in Upper Mesopotamia in 3000 BC and, as the name suggests, is a handicraft made with wires. Although filigree from each region has its own subtleties and differences, in general terms filigree is created by twisting and crushing micron-thick silver or gold wires in a cylinder and then compressing them into a very thin metal frame in harmony and welding them.
